Former Kentucky quarterback Gavin Wimsatt finds a new home

Former Kentucky quarterback Gavin Wimsatt has chosen his new home for 2025.

Gavin Wimsatt joined Kentucky football through the transfer portal before the 2024 season, having played at Rutgers the previous three years. He was brought in to back up Brock Vandagriff and provide a change of pace under center.

Wimsatt played in eight games this year, mostly in relief of Vandagriff when things weren’t going well. He completed 41% of his passes for 287 yards and 3 touchdowns with 4 interceptions.

He was more successful as a runner. Wimsatt carried the ball 49 times for 183 yards and 2 scores.

After the season ended, along with many others, Wimsatt announced he would be transferring from Kentucky. Now, it seems that he’s found his destination, and it is at Jacksonville State per his Instagram page.

Wimsatt didn’t play for the Cats for an extended time, but he certainly gave his all when he was on the field, even if it didn’t pay off. Big Blue Nation wishes him the best at his new home.
