Former Jacksonville Jaguars left tackle Tony Boselli will once again get a crack at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. This time it will be a chance to do so through the class of 2021 as he was named a modern-era finalist for this year’s class this week.
This will mark Boselli’s fifth straight time making it to the finalist stage. Now, he’ll join the following 14 players:
- Jared Allen, DE
- Ronde Barber, DB
- LeRoy Butler, S
- Alan Faneca, G
- Torry Holt, WR
- Calvin Johnson, WR
- John Lynch, FS
- Peyton Manning, QB
- Clay Matthews, LB
- Sam Mills, LB
- Richard Seymour, DE/DT
- Zach Thomas, LB
- Reggie Wayne, WR
- Charles Woodson, DB
Boselli, who joined the team during its inaugural season in 1995, was the first-ever Jags player drafted by the team (No. 2 overall). He spent six seasons with the team but his career overall was cut short due to shoulder issues.
Boselli was named a first-team All-Pro during the 1997, 1998, and 1999 seasons and was voted into the Pro Bowl from his second to last seasons in Jacksonville (1996-2000). He also was named to the All-Decade team for the 90s.
The next step will be to name the group of players who will represent the class of 2021. No more than five of the 15 listed players can make the cut so there will be at least 10 eliminations.
