Former Iowa football TE signs with West Virginia

One of Iowa football’s former tight ends is headed to West Virginia.

Former Iowa Hawkeyes tight end Johnny Pascuzzi is headed to the Big 12.

On3’s Pete Nakos reported earlier this week that Pascuzzi had signed with West Virginia.

A 6-foot-4, 241 pound tight end, Pascuzzi joined Iowa as a walk-on during the 2021 season. After redshirting during that 2021 season, Pascuzzi saw his first action in the 2022 season opener against South Dakota State but he didn’t record any statistics.

The Olathe, Kan., product carved out a larger role from that point forward but still found himself behind names like Luke Lachey, Addison Ostrenga and Zach Ortwerth on Iowa’s depth chart.

Pascuzzi did log 277 offensive snaps per Pro Football Focus and made four starts across the 2023 and 2024 seasons with the Hawkeyes. The Rockhurst High School product caught a pair of passes for 41 yards during his time in Iowa City.

Pascuzzi was a three-star transfer signee per 247Sports. 247Sports rated Pascuzzi as the No. 15 tight end and as its 561st-ranked player nationally.

Pascuzzi had initially entered the NCAA transfer portal on April 30, 2024 before deciding to return to Iowa for the 2024 season.

Entering the 2025 season, Iowa returns tight ends Addison Ostrenga, Zach Ortwerth, Gavin Hoffman and Michael Burt. The Hawkeyes also signed tight ends Mason Woods, Eli Johnson and Thomas Meyer in their 2025 signing class.
