Former Nebraska football defensive lineman Jimari Butler announced he was transferring to the LSU Tigers on Saturday night. He made the announcement on X.
Butler played a sizable role on the Nebraska football defensive unit over his four seasons in Lincoln. He started his career as a linebacker before moving to the defensive line in 2024. He played in 11 games this past season, recording 22 tackles, two sacks, and a fumble recovery.
He finished his time with the Huskers recording 65 combined tackles, 18 tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks.
The Alabama native officially entered the transfer portal on December 2.
Nebraska football has been able to make some noise in the transfer portal over the past couple of days. This includes landing edge defender Williams Nwarneri.
Butler could have a chance to succeed in Baton Rouge under the tutelage of renowned edge rushers coach Kevin Peoples. At the very least, he will get a chance to play for one of the premier programs in college football.
