A former Nebraska kicker has agreed to terms to continue his NFL career. Kicker Brett Maher has signed a one-year deal with the Denver Broncos.
Mike Klis of KUSA-TV was the first to announce the contract. According to Broncos Wire, he worked out for the team earlier this year.
The 33-year-old Maher played under Broncos head coach Sean Payton with the New Orleans Saints in 2021. Last season, Maher played for the Dallas Cowboys, making 29 of 32 field goal attempts and 50 out of 53 on extra point.
Maher made headlines during the 2023 playoffs when he made only one of six point after kicks over two game. The Fremont, Nebraska native kicked for the Cornhuskers from 2008-2012.
In 27 career games Maher made 102 of 103 extra points and was 39 of 50 in field goals. He was named the Big Ten Kicker of the Year for 2011 and 2012.
