What. A. Catch

Former Hawaii wide receiver John Ursua is in his second year with the Seattle Seahawks and is trying to improve off of his rookie year in which he played in three games and had one catch for 11 yards.

That one catch was significant as Ursua nearly had the game-winner against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 17 that nearly won them the NFC West, but he was stopped just short of the goal line and Seattle was unable to punch it in from the 1-yard line.

Fast forward to training camp and Ursua came to play to make an eye-popping catch that has to get head coach Pete Carroll and others’ attention with this one-handed grab.

OK. He did not have a defender, was not in full pads, and was thrown to in open air but it still looked pretty cool to see.

For those who followed the Warriors in college know that Ursua is a great receiver and him being taken in the seventh round was considered a steal. He had 89 catches and 16 touchdowns in his junior season alone and catches everything and anything that comes his way.

Ursua is not among the starting three for Seattle and is behind fellow second-year wideout D.K. Metcalf, 2015 former first-round pick Phillip Dorsett II, and veteran Tyler Lockett. He is battling for that fourth spot and this one catch will clearly not make or break his chances but it doesn’t hurt.
