Former Georgia star Charlie Condon goes No. 3 in MLB draft

UGA baseball star Charlie Condon is headed to a National League team with one of the most hitter-friendly parks in the MLB

Former Georgia Bulldogs star third baseman Charlie Condon fell to the Colorado Rockies, who selected him with the third pick in the 2024 MLB draft. Condon was widely considered the top prospect entering the draft, so him dropping to the No. 3 pick is a bit of a surprise.

The Colorado Rockies need a power hitter. The Rockies have one of the most hitter-friendly parks in baseball, so Condon will have an opportunity to put up big numbers for Colorado.

Charlie Condon is Georgia’s single-season home run leader. The 6-foot-6, 215-pound MLB draft prospect is the best power hitter in Georgia baseball history while hitting a remarkable .433 (No. 1 in the country) with 37 home runs, 57 walks, and 78 RBIs. Condon is a big reason why Georgia hosted a super regional this year.

Condon earned numerous honors for his 2024 season including winning the Golden Spikes Award and the Howser Trophy. He is Georgia baseball’s all-time home run leader.
