Former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Stetson Bennett has learned a great deal from fellow Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford. Bennett and Stafford are teammates on the Los Angeles Rams.
Bennett joined “Unreserved with TJ Calloway” to update his status and talk about how playing with and learning from Stafford is going. “He’s (Matthew Stafford) the man. And Jimmy (Garoppolo), too,” said Bennett. “He’s solid. I’m learning a lot from him.”
Stafford has been a starting quarterback in the NFL for over a decade. Stafford has seen every possible type of defense and has been on good teams and bad teams.
“He just doesn’t really think, you know, and he can throw it just better than anybody,” continued Bennett. Bennett mentored teammates during his time at Georgia, but acknowledges that it is tough to beat Stafford’s level of experience.
“He’s been a starting quarterback in the league for, I guess, 16 years now. You know and he’s won a Super Bowl, but he’s also been on bad teams,” said Bennett. “I just kind of sit back and try to learn from him.”
Bennett is hoping to make the Rams roster after missing most of his rookie season. Bennett could be the Rams’ backup quarterback to start the season because NFL veteran Jimmy Garoppolo is suspended for the first two games of the year.
