The Miami Dolphins have put in a concerted effort to bring back the majority of their defensive free agents, including Emmanuel Ogbah, Elandon Roberts, Duke Riley, Sam Eguavoen, Brennan Scarlett, Sheldrick Redwine and Elijah Campbell.
However, on Wednesday, the Dolphins lost their first to another team, as NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that cornerback Justin Coleman is signing with the Seattle Seahawks.
Coleman, 28, signed a one-year, $2.25 million contract with the Dolphins last season with expectations to be the team’s slot corner. However, the emergence of Nik Needham kept Coleman from fully taking that role.
The former Tenessee Volunteer still played 35% of Miami’s defensive snaps and contributed on special teams, totaling 27 tackles, three passes defended and two interceptions.
Coleman joins the Seahawks for the third time in his career.
