The Miami Dolphins lost a gut-wrenching Week 14 game Monday night, but they also lost one of their starting offensive linemen for the remainder of the 2023 campaign. It’s a development that will scrap a Christmas Eve reunion on the field with his former Cowboys teammates.
Center Connor Williams left the first quarter of Miami’s one-point loss to Tennessee with a knee injury and was later determined to have suffered a torn ACL. He’s been declared out for the rest of the season.
Williams was a second-round draft pick by the Cowboys in 2018 and played his first four seasons in Dallas. The University of Texas product started 51 games during his time wearing the star- mostly at guard- but he’s perhaps best remembered by Cowboys fans for a total of 14 holding penalties in 2021.

Williams signed a two-year deal with Miami in March of 2022, immediately switching to center and starting there in Week 1 of that season. He was the only Dolphins player to be in on every offensive snap of the 2022 campaign.
The 26-year-old missed four games earlier this season with a groin injury; he’ll now be replaced by third-year man Liam Eichenberg. The Dolphins already have multiple starting offensive linemen dealing with injuries as the season winds down.
The Cowboys visit Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens for a Week 16 meeting on Dec. 24.
