Former Cowboys CB Anthony Brown signed to San Francisco’s 53-man roster

From @ToddBrock24f7: Brown tore an Achilles tendon late last season; now he has a chance to face his old team when the Cowboys visit San Francisco in Week 5.

Anticipation is already building for Week 5’s clash of NFC powerhouses. But when the Cowboys visit Levi’s Stadium to take on the San Francisco 49ers, there will be a very familiar face wearing the red and gold.

Cornerback Anthony Brown has signed with the 49ers, according to ESPN insider Adam Schefter.

Brown spent the previous seven seasons in Dallas, appearing in 98 games (including playoffs) and starting 72. His last action in a Cowboys uniform came in Week 13 last year versus Indianapolis; he tore an Achilles tendon in that game and was placed on season-ending injured reserve a few days later.

The former sixth-round draft choice out of Purdue did sign with the Steelers practice squad late in the preseason but was released last week.

Brown will now join San Francisco’s 53-man roster and provide much-needed help to a severely-depleted secondary unit. Starting corners Ambry Thomas and Deommodore Lenoir were both injured in the team’s Week 2 win over the Rams. Isaiah Oliver and Charvarius Ward are also currently options at the position for the 49ers.

Brown was in on 324 tackles and recorded 59 passes defended, nine interceptions, five forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, 11 tackles for loss, and four sacks in his time with the Cowboys.
