Former Colts’ star QB Andrew Luck new GM of Stanford football

Former Indianapolis Colts’ star QB Andrew Luck will be the new GM of the Stanford football program.

Former Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback Andrew Luck will have a new job title, being named the general manager of the Stanford football program, according to ESPN.

With the college football landscape ever evolving, the role Luck is going to fill at Stanford could become more prominent across the sport in the coming years.

As noted in ESPN’s report by Pete Thamel, Luck will be involved in everything that touches the Stanford football program, from the obvious football component to the business side as well.

Thamel adds that Luck’s football duties include managing the coaching staff, the player personnel staff, and recruiting, among other areas.

Business-wise, Luck will be apart of fundraising, sponsorships, attendance, sales, in-stadium experiences, and more.

“I’m excited,” Luck told ESPN. “I think Stanford is taking an assertive and innovative step. We’re undoubtedly the best athletic department in college sports. We have to re-prove it in football, and we’re excited to be part of that challenge.”

Luck, of course, is a decorated Stanford alum. He was a runner-up for the Heisman Trophy on two occasions, finishing behind Cam Newton in 2010 and Robert Griffin III in 2011.

During those two seasons, Luck completed 71 percent of his passes for almost 7,000 yards with 69 touchdowns to 18 interceptions.

Luck was the first overall pick by the Colts in the 2012 draft. In six seasons with the team, Luck completed 61 percent of his throws for 25,926 yards with 183 touchdowns and 96 interceptions before retiring in 2019.

Luck would lead the Colts to the playoffs four times and was a four-time Pro Bowler and the 2018 Comeback Player of the Year.

The 2024 season was Stanford’s first in the ACC. They finished with a record of 3-9.
