Former Clemson defender comes up big in Thursday Night Football

Simmons accounted for one of the Cardinal three picks against Andy Dalton and the Saints on Thursday night.

Former Clemson linebacker Isaiah Simmons continues to make waves at the next level.

The current Arizona Cardinal had a huge pick-6 in Thursday night’s 42-34 win over the Saints at State Farm Stadium in Phoenix. Simmons was the third Cardinal to intercept Saints quarterback Andy Dalton in just the first half of play, the first pair being cornerbacks Marco Wilson and Antonio Hamilton.

The Clemson product came up big in the second quarter with the one-handed grab, returning it for 56 yards to the end zone. Wilson and Simmons recorded the back-to-back picks with just two minutes remaining in the first half.

Fellow Clemson Tiger and Arizona Cardinal DeAndre Hopkins made his season debut for the Cardinals in Thursday’s win after serving a six game PED suspension and said the fellow Tiger’s pick against the Saints came as no surprise.

“Isaiah’s a baller, he went to Clemson,” Hopkins said. “For me, there’s just something about those Clemson guys. Isaiah’s been making plays since he’s been here, so that was no surprise.”
