[autotag]Miesha Tate[/autotag] has her next fight and it’s against another fighter coming off a long layoff.
At a UFC Fight Night event slated for Dec. 2, Tate (19-9 MMA, 6-6 UFC) will take on [autotag]Julia Avila[/autotag] (9-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC). The card does not have a confirmed location or venue at this time.
Two people with knowledge of the matchup recently confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. MMA Mania first reported the fight was in the works.
Tate, 37, is a former UFC women’s bantamweight champion. She hasn’t fought since a lopsided unanimous decision defeat at the hands of Lauren Murphy in July 2022. The fight was Tate’s debut at flyweight and moved her to 1-2 since she un-retired and returned to competition in 2021. Tate was scheduled to face Mayra Bueno Silva in June but withdrew from the bout for unknown reasons.
Avila, 35, has not competed since June 2021 as she took time off to give birth to her daughter, who was born in October 2022. Prior to her maternity leave, Avila defeated Julija Stoliarenko by rear-naked choke submission. The win was her third win in four promotional outings and her second finish.
With the addition, the UFC Fight Night lineup for Dec. 2 includes:
- Julia Avila vs. Miesha Tate
- Veronica Hardy vs. Jamey-Lyn Horth
