When Hall of Fame Boston Celtics big man Kevin Garnett was still in high school, his basketball career was very nearly derailed by off-court drama the South Carolina native had little to do with. A fight he wasn’t even involved in forced a young Garnett into court to defend himself against serious charges.
So KG learned the importance of keeping out of trouble very early in his career, and he has plenty to share with younger players making questionable decisions about who they associate with and the activities they engage in. Namely, the sort of self-destructive behavior we have seen out of Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant.
On a recent episode of the Showtime Basketball “KG Certified” podcast, KG and former Celtics teammate Tony Allen talked about that dynamic, and what Ja needs to do to avoid derailing a promising NBA career.
