Former Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas signs rest-of-season deal with Charlotte Hornets

For his fans, it’s good to see him back in the league.

Former Boston Celtics fan-favorite point guard Isaiah Thomas has found himself a home for the rest of the 2021-22 NBA season with the Charlotte Hornets according to new reporting from The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

The former King in the Fourth had long been striving towards a return to the league he loves that the injury that caused the Celtics to deal him away to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Kyrie Irving in 2017 eventually forced him out of, only to mount a serious comeback bid after getting that hip injury fixed with surgery he had the opportunity to have done with the pandemic going on.

After a few 10-day deals with the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, and Hornets, his most recent stint had gone well enough that Charlotte decided to sign IT to a rest-of-season deal after running the maximum number of 10-day deals a player can sign in a season (two).

The Washington product is currently averaging a solid 9.9 points1.3 rebounds, and 2 assists per game with the Hornets in 13.4 minutes per game, and shooting a sizzling 48% from 3-point range while doing so.

While it would have been nicer to see him back in Boston, seeing IT back in the league is enough of a gift for his fans.
