Former Boston Celtics guard Carsen Edwards landed in Memphis earlier this month as a part of the Juancho Hernangomez trade deal, but the 23-year-old will not take part in training camp with the Grizzlies after being waived on Thursday.
Edwards, the 33rd pick in the 2019 NBA draft, spent two seasons in Boston and made 68 regular-season appearances for the Celtics. Edwards is on the final year of the three-year, $4.5 million rookie contract he signed with the Celtics, and is due to make $1,782,621 guaranteed this season. Should Edwards clear waivers, he’ll become an unrestricted free agent.
