In a recent interview on “The Old Man and The Three” podcast with host and former NBAer JJ Redick, champion Boston Celtics floor general Rajon Rondo shared his feelings about playing alongside Hall of Famers Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen during his stint with the team.
Rondo emphasized the profound impact Garnett had on him, particularly in terms of his mindset, discipline and work ethic, even going as far as to call him his favorite teammate from that era.
“He’s so unselfish. I remember Doc (Rivers) made a comment … how (Garnett is) the most unselfish player on the team,” shared the two-time titlist via Heavy’s Matt John.
“He was talking about if anybody hit the floor, Kevin was the first to run from all the way across the court to help his teammate up,” Rondo said. “He would sacrifice his body-setting picks. He never complained about getting the ball. Paul and Ray wanted the ball all the time.”
On his recent visit to the @CelticsLab podcast, @jeffpearlman outlined the clever way he landed his dream job writing for Sports Illustrated.

“Every once in a while, KG gave me that look like, ‘Bring that (expletive) down here,’ but other than that, he was always willing to sacrifice,” said the former Celtics floor general. “He took less shots when he came to Boston.”
“Obviously, he knew that coming in, but to see him go through it when we did have adversity, he never wavered as far as who he was as a player and a professional. I learned a lot from him, and he taught me a lot.”
