Former Celtic James Young inks deal with Greek League’s Kolossos Rodou B.C.

Young averaged 2.3 points per game with the parent club across 89 games in parts of 3 seasons before leaving Boston.

Former Boston Celtics shooting guard James Young has found a home in Europe for the rest of the 2022-23 season according to Hoops Hype’s Alberto De Roa. He has signed with Greek League club Kolossos Rodou B.C., located on the island of Rhodes in the Aegean sea.

It is not the worst place to ball out overseas for the former University of Kentucky standout, who was drafted by the Celtics in 2014, the same draft as veteran Boston floor general Marcus Smart. Young was the 17th pick; Smart was sixth. The Flint, Michigan, native never found his stride at the NBA level despite dominating the G League level with the Maine Red Claws (now, Maine Celtics).

Young averaged 2.3 points per game with the parent club across 89 games in parts of three seasons before leaving the team for stints with the Wisconsin Herd, Philadelphia 76ers, Delaware 76ers, Westchester Knicks and abroad with Maccabi Haifa and Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel.
