Former Cardinals CB Josh Shaw reinstated by NFL

He spent 2020 out of the league after having bet on NFL games in 2019.

Arizona Cardinals fans might not remember cornerback Josh Shaw. He was signed in 2019 and landed on injured reserve before the season. At the conclusion of the season, there was the announcement that Shaw was suspended for at least a year by the NFL due to gambling violations. He bet on NFL games once.

Shaw has served his suspension and has been reinstated. He now is a free agent.

Shaw, depending on how the Cardinals organization views his suspension, could be someone who could return. He knows defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, having been with the team one year already and having been coached by him in Cincinnati.

He has positional flexibility, as he can play cornerback, nickel and safety.

As the Cardinals have hardly anyone at cornerback on the roster. He could be someone to compete for depth and potentially play on special teams.

A year away from the league and having been on two teams in 2018, we will see if he is able to find himself on an NFL roster this year.
