Former Cardinal Isaiah Simmons doesn’t do much in Giants debut

Simmons played 15 defensive snaps and had one tackle.

Sunday’s game between the Arizona Cardinals and New York Giants at State Farm Stadium will be a homecoming/revenge game for Giants linebacker Isaiah Simmons.

The Cardinals traded Simmons, their first-round selection in 2020, drafted No. 8 overall, to the Giants the week before final cuts for a seventh-round pick.

In one game with the Giants, Simmons did not have much of an impact.

In the Giants’ 40-0 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, Simmons had one tackle and nothing else. He played only 15 defensive snaps and 15 snaps on special teams.

He will surely want to make plays in Week 2 to exact some revenge on his former team, as they elected not to exercise the fifth-year team option on his contract and then deemed him not a fit on the team before trading him for almost nothing.

His play will be something to pay attention to as he develops a role for New York’s defense.
