Two-sport athletes at the college level are no longer common sight with many programs asking for a nearly year-round commitment.
Drew Carter, however, managed to live that dream — at least to some extent — during his time at the University of Colorado. After joining the Buffs football program in the spring of 2021, the quarterback appeared in six games that fall before walking on to the CU men’s basketball squad early in the 2021-22 season, although he never managed to see game action.
Following another fall in Boulder as a backup QB, Carter entered the transfer portal in April, and on Friday, it was announced that he signed on to play basketball at UC Davis.
Carter was one of the top 2021 basketball recruits in the state of Oregon and was even a McDonald’s All-American West Region Nominee in 2021.
The UC Davis Aggies finished 18-14 (11-8 Big West) last season under head coach Jim Les.
