Countless former UCLA Bruins are getting their shot to play at the NFL level. For Jake Heimlicher, an outside linebacker, he will get his chance to make a good first impression for the New York Giants at their rookie minicamp, where he will join 6th-round selection and former teammate Darius Muasau.
Heimlicher, who began his career at the University of Pennsylvania playing in the FCS, transferred to UCLA to play out his last year of eligibility. He appeared in 12 games in his redshirt senior season, totaling seven tackles with one for a loss.
Though his output at UCLA does not jump off the page, Heimlicher was a star playing in the Ivy League for Penn. An All-Ivy-League and All-American player in 2022 for the Quakers, the 6′ 4″ outside linebacker/end had nine sacks and a whopping 47 tackles.
Congratulations to @jake_heimlicher on earning his way to the @Giants minicamp next week! Jake's a former FCS All-American OLB/DE out of @PennFB who finished up his career at @UCLAFootball. #ProStarFamily @MalloeMalloe pic.twitter.com/hI7aWGfyw7

Given his output and ability to play in the FCS, Heimlicher is a solid player to take a flyer on for the Giants. With a chance to show off his skills at minicamp and potentially find himself a spot along the New York roster.
