Former Broncos RB Phillip Lindsay agrees to one-year deal with the Texans

The Houston Texans have signed former Denver Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay to a one-year contract.

The Houston Texans have added another running back in hopes of improving their backfield.

According to his agent, Mike McCartney, free-agent running back Phillip Lindsay has signed a one-year deal to join the Texans. Lindsay’s deal is worth $3.25 million with incentives.

Lindsay, 26, is joining the Texans after spending the last three seasons as a member of the Denver Broncos. After going undrafted in 2018, Lindsay rushed for 2,048 yards and 16 touchdowns in his first two seasons.

Injuries and splitting time in the backfield with Melvin Gordon resulted in Lindsay’s having a down year in 2020. In a career-low 11 games, the Denver native recorded 502 yards on the ground on 118 attempts. He was named to his first and only Pro-Bowl selection as a rookie in 2018.

After signing with the Texans, Lindsay is joining a crowded backfield in Houston. He joins recently acquired running back Mark Ingram. And David Johnson, who spent last season with the Texans rushing for 691 yards in 12 games.
