The attrition on Washington’s roster has come quickly since the Huskies wrapped up the regular season against Oregon on November 30.
On Monday, the first day the transfer portal officially opened, that pace has quickened even further. The latest to join the fray was cornerback Curley Reed III, who announced on social media that he entered the portal after two seasons on Montlake.
Reed, a former four-star recruit, was seen as a huge recruiting victory for Kalen DeBoer’s 2023 staff, committing to Washington out of Lake Charles Prep (LA) over offers from SEC and Big 12 programs much closer to home. After a redshirt season last year, Reed struggled to find his footing in a solid Huskies cornerback room, playing only 4 snaps all season. Those all came in the season opener against Weber State.
With Ephesians Prysock returning and both Thaddeus Dixon and Elijah Jackson eligible to return in 2025, Washington’s cornerback situation wasn’t going to open up much more for Reed next season (Dixon and Jackson have not indicated if they plan to use their final seasons of eligibility). The Huskies also have fourth-year junior Darren Barkins, redshirt freshmen Caleb Presley and Leroy Bryant, and true freshman Elias Johnson on the roster.
Washington also signed cornerbacks Dylan Robinson, Ramonz Adams, and D’Aryhian Clemons in the 2025 class.
Reed is among a handful of Huskies to enter the transfer portal in recent days. Running backs Cameron Davis and Sam Adams II, wide receiver Camden Sirmon, offensive lineman Gaard Memmelaar, pass rushers Lance Holtzclaw and Maurice Heims, punters Jack McCallister and Adam Saul, and long snapper Caleb Johnston have all announced their intentions since the Oregon game.
