Former Wisconsin Badger running back and current Denver Bronco Melvin Gordon was cited overnight for driving under the influence and speeding in Denver, according to court reports and an article from USA TODAY’s Chris Bumbaca.
Bumbaca writes that “Denver County Court records obtained by USA TODAY Sports show Denver police stopped Gordon late Tuesday after allegedly driving between 25-39 mph over the speed limit. He was also charged with two separate misdemeanors of driving under the influence.”
A subsequent statement from the Broncos to USA TODAY Sports said “We are aware of the situation involving Melvin Gordon. Our organization has been in communication with him and is in the process of gathering more details.”
The former Badger’s court case is scheduled for November 13 and could lead to him facing additional league punishment.
The running back is in his sixth NFL season and his first in Denver with the Broncos. Through four games as the starting running back Gordon has carried the ball 65 times for 281 yards and 3 touchdowns in addition to 15 targets, 11 receptions, 45 receiving yards and 1 receiving touchdown.
His most recent performance was a 23-carry, 107-yard and 2-touchdown game in a 37-28 win against the New York Jets.
