Former Alabama golfer Trey Mullinax takes lead at Orange County National Championship

Trey Mullinax shot a third-round 62 to take the lead at Orange County National Championship.

Trey Mullinax is looking for his second win on the Korn Ferry Tour at the Orange County National Championship. Given the 62 he wrote on his scorecard on Saturday, he has a pretty good shot.

The 28-year-old went 9-under 62 Saturday at Orange County National in Winter Garden, Florida, to take a three-shot lead with 18 holes left to play.

Mullinax recorded his first birdie of the day on No. 3 and picked up steam on Nos. 7-11. He went birdie-birdie-birdie-eagle-birdie during the five-hole stretch and added another birdie at 14. His carded his only bogey of the day on 16 before finishing his round with back-to-back birdies.

The former University of Alabama golfer has played in 10 Korn Ferry Tour events this season, earning two top 10s and making six cuts. His best finish was a T-7 at the Evans Scholars Invitational last month. Mullinax also played in two PGA Tour events last season, the Farmers Insurance Open in which he finished 78th and the Waste Management Phoenix Open where he missed the cut.
