To the fans of the Crimson Tide Alabama, it’s no surprise to see [autotag]Herb Jones[/autotag] making a massive impact on basketball’s biggest stage, the NBA playoffs.
Jones was a fundamental piece of Nate Oats’ rebuild at Alabama with it all coming to fruition during Jones’ senior year. The Tide had an in-conference record of 16-2 to win the SEC regular season title as well as winning the SEC tournament and making it to the Sweet 16.
The 6’8 forward from Greensboro, Alabama was heralded with not only the Conference Player of the Year, but Defensive Player of the Year as well. He was recognized as a Third-Team All-American.
The New Orleans Pelicans selected Jones with a second-round pick, No. 35 overall, where he joined former Alabama star Kira Lewis Jr.
Jones and the Pelicans face the Phoenix Suns in a vital game 5 this evening with the series already split 2-2. Jones has had a sensational series this far averaging 9.5 points per game as well as being a primary defender on guard Chris Paul.
Flying around and bringing an unprecedented level of intensity, Jones has quickly turned into the X-factor the Pelicans have been in dire need of.
In one play, Herb Jones:
— Defended CP in a pick and roll
— Left CP to rotate to Bridges in the corner
— Slowed down to bait Bridges into taking the shot
— Swatted Bridges' shot

On the offensive side, Jones is going to make a name for himself as well.
