Formerly the offensive coordinator of the Alabama Crimson Tide during the 2023 season, Tommy Rees was reportedly promoted to the same position in the NFL on Tuesday afternoon, becoming the newest OC of the Cleveland Browns.
Rees previously the 2024 season with the Browns as the organization’s tight ends coach, and had reportedly been linked to some jobs at the collegiate level this offseason, most notably the North Carolina head coaching position.
At Alabama, Rees served as the Crimson Tide’s offensive coordinator during Nick Saban’s final year as head coach in 2023. Under Rees, Alabama ranked as the nation’s No. 24 scoring offensive team at 34 PPG, while also averaging 393.1 yards per game of total offense.
Prior to Alabama, Rees previously served as the offensive coordinator with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish for three seasons from 2020-22. Rees also played collegiately at Notre Dame in which he started multiple seasons at quarterback for the Fighting Irish from 2010-13.
