The New York Jets and former Texas A&M DE Michael Clemons agree on a four-year, $4.4M rookie contract, per ESPN’s NFL Nation reporter, Rich Cimini. The contract includes an $896K signing bonus for the 2022 fourth-rounder (pick 117). Clemons was one of the final three Jets’ rookies who remained unsigned from their 2022 haul.
Clemons enjoyed his most productive season in an Aggies’ uniform in 2021, appearing in 10 games and compiling 23 solo tackles, 9 assisted tackles, 11.0 TFL (ranking second on their 2021 defense), and 7.0 sacks (ranking third on their 2021 defense).
Clemons’ 2020 season was off to a great start but he was, unfortunately, lost to a season-ending injury after the Aggies’ fifth game. In those five games, Clemons totaled 4.5 TFL and 4.0 sacks. Clemons finished his Aggies career with 20.5 TFL and 12.5 sacks.
The Jets have signed fourth-round pick Michael Clemons, the team announced. It’s a four-year, $4.4M contract for the former Texas A&M DE. It includes an $896K signing bonus. #Jets
