Former NFL agent Joel Corry issued a reminder of what New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is worth. And a six-time Super Bowl champion doesn’t come cheap.
Corry, who is done working as an agent and contributes to CBS Sports, explained that Brady could make roughly $33 million annually. It’s actually a discounted rate, considering Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger signed a deal in 2019 which paid him $34 annually. But Brady has cared more about winning than money, which is convenient because his wife Gisele is the real breadwinner after a career as a supermodel. So perhaps Corry built in Brady’s openness to a reasonable sum.
Contract Package: $100 Million/3 Years ($33,333,333 Per Year). Overall Guarantees: $65 Million
Brady has an expiring contract for the first time in his illustrious 20-year career. Reports started surfacing around the Super Bowl that the Patriots would be willing to pay at least $30 million per year to keep Brady, and the Raiders would also be in pursuit. There has been plenty of speculation about the Chargers as a potential suitor since Philip Rivers won’t be back for a 17th season.
It’s easy to imagine Brady getting something in that neighborhood, while also asking the team that signs him to invest another major sum on a No. 1 wideout and/or tight end. Reports have indicated Brady wants a strong supporting cast, wherever he lands. And perhaps that desire will outweigh his need to make an absurdly large annual figure. Brady’s figure could exceed that total, however, if he went to a place like Oakland, L.A. or Indianapolis.
