Earlier this month, we had the privilege of interviewing Hallman on Locked On Badgers. When asked about which aspect of Wisconsin football stood out to the Florida native, he without hesitation mentioned the coaching staff. “Playing for that coaching staff. Wisconsin has one of the best coaching staffs in the nation,” said Hallman.
“Coach Leonhard really has the mentality I look for in a coach. Coach Leonhard was a walk-on and the next three years he was an All-American. He then played in the league for ten years. Playing under him would be amazing.”
Wisconsin Defensive Coordinator Jim Leonhard played in the NFL as a safety, and that experience was a major factor for Hallman when deciding which school to play for. “I know Coach Leonhard has been there. I know he won’t lead me wrong because he has been there and he knows what it takes to get there.”
For any player with NFL aspirations, having a coach who has played at the highest level creates immediate trust about understanding what it takes to be an NFL player. Coach Jim Leonhard has invaluable experience that Wisconsin’s newest commit is excited to learn from.
