For Orlando Magic big man Wendell Carter Jr., Thursday’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans was encouraging, even though they lost. It marked Carter’s return after missing the Magic’s previous two games with a right lower leg muscle strain he sustained against the Miami Heat on Dec. 17. There were concerns that Carter, who was taken into the locker room in a wheelchair, would miss significant time. So his return a week later was a relief.
