Floyd Mayweather says he barely trained for Conor McGregor fight

Floyd Mayweather said he did mostly pushups and sit-ups to prepare for his crossover fight with Conor McGregor in 2017.

A lot of people believe Floyd Mayweather could’ve beaten Conor McGregor with his eyes closed.

“Money” didn’t go that far but, he said on the Drink Champs podcast, he barely trained.

Mayweather easily broke down and then knocked out the MMA star in the 10th round of a boxing match on Aug. 26, 2017 in Las Vegas.

“For the Conor McGregor [fight], I didn’t really train,” Mayweather said on the podcast. “All I did was do pushups and sit-ups. That’s all I did. Pushups and sit-ups, box a few times, hit the bag a few times, because, actually, training camp was in different places. I would do training camp in Vegas a few days, [but] sometimes I wouldn’t go to the gym for a week.

“I took it serious, like I said before, I wanted to have some fun in the fight and I wanted to entertain the people.”

Mayweather ran his professional record to 50-0 in that fight and has never fought since.

The soon-to-be-43-year-old has hinted at a return of some kind this year but nothing concrete has been announced.
