Florida’s recruiting class of 2023 could be something special.
[autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] scrambled to put together a transition class in just a few months for 2022, but the upcoming group will be the first to be fully vetted by Napier’s staff. Florida’s top-rated commit, receiver [autotag]Aidan Mizell[/autotag], thinks that group will not only be special, but they’ll also be that group that brings a national championship back to the Swamp, according to Swamp247.
“It was a difficult decision and I loved all my options and all the coaches,” Mizell said. “I just felt like for me and my family, this was the best decision. I think I will do great things at Florida and we will win a national championship.”
Mizell said he’s been recruiting other elite players for a while and plans on attending every home game this season to do what he can to help land more talent. He saw first-hand what Florida can do when they want to convince a player that UF is the right school for them. After offering Mizell late, the Gators had to play catchup and wowed him on his visits to get him on board.
“They absolutely had to play from behind,” he said. “When I got the offer I thought nothing of it. They got me on a visit and then got me on an OV and that really changed my perspective.”
If Mizell and the recruiting staff can pull off a few more comebacks, Florida should have a top-10 class in 2023. Whether or not that’s enough to even claim a conference championship in the near future remains to be seen, but the group is hoping to accomplish much more than that.
Mizell is ranked No. 72 overall on the 247Sports composite and is No. 13 among receivers in the class of 2023. He’s the Gators’ highest-rated recruit and only top-100 commit.
