Florida basketball returns home to the O’Connell Center on Wednesday night to host the visiting Texas A&M Aggies as the Southeastern Conference schedule continues to unfurl. The Gators lost their SEC opener against the Auburn Tigers last week while TAMU is getting its first taste of conference action this season.
The Aggies went a modest 8-5 during the non-conference stretch ahead of Wednesday’s matchup but have yet to notch a single quality win. That puts them at No, 97 in the NET rankings thanks to an 0-1 record against Quadrant 1 teams, 0-2 against Quad 2, 1-1 against Quad 3 and 7-1 against Quad 4.
The Gators, on the other hand, rank No. 66 in the NET, amassing an 0-5 mark against Quad 1, 0-1 against Quad 2, 1-0 against Quad 3 and a perfect 6-0 versus Quad 4.
The Orange and Blue hold the edge in the all-time series with a 9-6 record dating back to the first meeting in 1992 which Florida won, 73-46, at home. TAMU has won the last two meetings — including a buzzer-beater in the SEC tournament last March — following a four-game win streak for the Gators.
