Florida football picked up a much-needed win on Sunday against the Eastern Washington Eagles in a game that was pushed back due to Hurricane Ian. The third try was the charm as the matchup that was originally scheduled as a condition of former head coach Jim McElwain’s contract was first postponed by COVID and then delayed by the storm. Ultimately, the Gators prevailed, 52-17.
Next up are the Missouri Tigers, who Florida hosts in the Swamp for its 2022 homecoming game. Mizzou is coming off a near loss against the Georgia Bulldogs in which it held a fourth-quarter lead but could not come up with the victory. Missouri also lost in overtime to the Auburn Tigers the week prior, which has it at 0-2 in Southeastern Conference play so far — the same record as the Gators.
The visitors hold the all-time edge in this series, 6-5, going back to the 1966 Sugar Bowl, which Florida lost, 20-18. The two schools did not meet again until the Tigers joined the SEC in 2012; since then, they have split their 10 games facing each other.
