The Week 9 college football matchup between the Florida Gators and Georgia Bulldogs is a day closer. As kickoff quickly nears both teams prepare for their biggest rivalry game of the season played on neutral territory at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida.
Known to most as the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, the annual event has been played in northeast Florida continuously since 1933, with the exception of a two-year stretch when UF and UGA played a home-and-home while the old Gator Bowl was retrofitted and modernized, as well as in 1942 due to World War II.
The Bulldogs hold a solid edge on the Gators in the all-time series with a 53-44-2 record dating back to the first meeting in 1915. Both schools own series-high seven-game winning streaks, with Florida’s coming from 1990 to 1996 and Georgia’s from 1941 to 1948. The long-time rivals have split their last two meetings but UGA has won four of the past five coming into Saturday.
