Florida State loses another commitment amidst early season struggles

Florida State not only lost two football games this season, they’ve now lost two key recruits in the 2025 class.

The hits keep coming for the Florida State Seminoles. After losing the first two games of the 2024 season, the ‘Noles have now lost one of their top commits for the 2025 season.

Four-star defensive end Javion Hilson elected to decommit and will now make his final college choice near the December 4th deadline.

Hilson originally committed to the Seminoles on January 12th, after flipping from Alabama. He was the second-ranked player for the Seminoles and was 71st overall in the class. It is now the second departure for Florida State in the 2025 class following Myron Charles, who flipped from Florida State to Texas.

The Seminoles planned to use Hilson as one of their top pass rushers right away. At Cocoa High School he had 97 tackles and 14 sacks a season ago. Florida State was ranked 18th in the recent rankings, but with the loss of these two players head coach Mike Norvell’s staff will need to get back on the grind quickly.

Florida State will host Memphis this coming Saturday in an effort to win their first game of the season.
