Florida basketball blew a 21-point second-half lead but was still able to hang on to beat the Georgia Bulldogs inside the O’Connell Center in overtime on Saturday, 102-98. The Gators cruised for the first 30 minutes of the game but things got way too interesting in the end.
As a result of the Quadrant 3 win, the Orange and Blue rose three spots to No. 39 overall in the NET rankings, putting them between the No. 38 Mississippi State Bulldogs and the No. 40 Xavier Musketeers.
Here’s how the quadrant system breaks things up:
- Quadrant 1: Home 1-30, Neutral 1-50, Away 1-75
- Quadrant 2: Home 31-75, Neutral 51-100, Away 76-135
- Quadrant 3: Home 76-160, Neutral 101-200, Away 135-240
- Quadrant 4: Home 161-353, Neutral 201-353, Away 241-353
The Gators are now 0-6 against Quadrant 1 opponents, 5-0 against Quadrant 2 opponents, 4-0 against Quadrant 3 opponents and 5-0 against Quadrant 4 opponents. They hold a 14-6 record overall and a 4-3 mark in Southeastern Conference play.
Florida next travels to Lexington to take on the Kentucky Wildcats in a rematch of the SEC opening loss for the Gators on Wednesday, Jan. 31. Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast on ESPN.
