Florida slips again in KenPom rankings after second-straight SEC loss

Here are KenPom’s numbers for Florida basketball after the late-night loss on Wednesday at Ole Miss.

Todd Golden’s team suffered their second-straight loss on Wednesday night, falling by a hefty 18-point margin at the Ole Miss Rebels, 103-85. After a perfect 6-0 month of December, Florida is winless in January as well as in Southeastern Conference play.

As a result of the loss, the Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings saw the Gators fall six spots from our previous update to No. 44 overall. That nestles the Orange and Blue between the No. 43 Wake Forest Demon Deacons — who beat Florida earlier this season — and No. 45 New Mexico Lobos.

The Pomeroy rankings use adjusted efficiency margin — the difference between adjusted offensive efficiency and adjusted defensive efficiency — to rank all teams.

Golden’s gang has a margin of plus-14.91 (down 1.78 points) which means the team is expected to score 14.91 more points than the average opponent. They rank 34th in adjusted offensive efficiency (115.2) but 82nd in adjusted defensive efficiency (100.3)

KenPom also has Florida’s overall strength of schedule rated at plus-3.48, which is 75th in the nation; its non-conference schedule rating received a score of plus-0.80 which puts the Gators at No. 154.

Next up for the Gators are the Arkansas Razorbacks, who come to the O’Connell Center on Saturday, Jan. 13. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 pm ET and the game will be broadcast on ESPN.
