Heading into the Tennessee game, CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd wasn’t very high on the Gators. After losing to Alabama, he dropped them down to the No. 14 spot in his college football power rankings.
Florida’s performance against Tennessee wasn’t enough to crack the top 10 in the latest update to Dodd’s rankings, but it was enough to rise three spots to No. 11.
For the second straight week, Emory Jones threw for a career-high. Jones became the first Gators QB since Tim Tebow in 2009 to throw for 200 yards and rush for 100. “I’m definitely just warming up, honestly,” Jones said. You can’t spell “rout” without UT. Florida won for the 16th time in the last 17 meetings in a game that used to decide the SEC East.
If it weren’t for Arkansas‘ impressive win over Texas A&M, UF likely would be in the top 10. But the Razorbacks surged up nine spots to jump the Gators this week.
Florida is a team that appears to be getting better, but this week’s game at Kentucky is arguably the toughest remaining non-Georgia test. A win in Lexington would likely see UF move into Dodd’s top 10 next week.
