Before Florida’s Wednesday night loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Gators were included in the First Four Out of Sports Illustrated’s latest bracketology update.
UF might fall out of the First Four Out after getting blown out by Alabama, but the team should still be considered for the NCAA Tournament down the stretch after knocking off No. 2 Tennessee eight days ago.
Florida joined Memphis, Mississippi State and Seton Hall in the First Four Out this week. The team could fall to the Next Four Out or out of the bubble entirely with the most recent loss, though.
Meanwhile, Alabama hangs onto a firm hold of the projected No. 1 seed in the Midwest Region. Tennessee is a No. 2 seed in the West but could fall after another upset loss to Vanderbilt on Wednesday, and Arkansas is a No. 8 seed in the South Region.
Missouri and Auburn are No. 9 seeds in the West and South, respectively, Kentucky is a No. 10 seed in the South and Texas A&M is a member of the Last Four In (Florida lost both games to the Aggies by a combined five points). Kentucky is also in the Last Four Byes group this week.
Florida still has time to notch another signature win or two. Arkansas and Kentucky are on the schedule in just over a week, and a run in the SEC Tournament could help as well. Dominating the middle and lower tiers of the conference could also go a long way when selections are being made.
