Florida’s embarrassing 40-17 loss to South Carolina did them no favors in the USA Today Sports AFCA Coaches Poll as the Gators once again failed to receive a single vote.
The Gators haven’t been ranked since the Oct. 10 Coaches Poll, and their chances to get back into the top 25 have decreased almost every week since. The loss to South Carolina might be the nail in the coffin for Florida, putting its record at 4-5 overall and 2-5 in the conference. There are three winnable games left on the Gators’ schedule, but not if the same effort is put forth as on Saturday.
Georgia stayed at No. 1 and Alabama has climbed its way all the way back to the top at No. 2 after a little nudge from the College Football Playoff rankings came along. Texas A&M took down now No. 20 Auburn and moved up to No. 11, and Ole Miss is right behind the Aggies at No. 12 after beating Liberty.
Kentucky was the only other ranked SEC team last week, but a loss to Tennessee has them out of the top 25 at an unofficial No. 29. Arkansas leapfrogged UK after beating Mississippi State and is just one spot shy of cracking the top 25.
