Florida football hosted a handful of recruits this past weekend as Billy Napier and Co. begin a month of welcoming the best prep prospects in the nation on campus for a gander at what the Gators have to offer. One of those high schoolers came away incredibly impressed and quickly elevated the Orange and Blue to the top of his preferred school list.
Four-star wide receiver [autotag]Aidan Mizell[/autotag] out of Orlando (Florida) Boone — a UF legacy through both of his parents, who ran track — was blown away on his visit during the opening weekend of June. He was able to see the program in much more depth and detail than during his previous stops, which opened his eyes to what the Orange and Blue had to offer him.
“Usually the trips I made this far it’s been, stay a few hours and go, whether it’s me being up here for a track meet or just coming up for a little bit,” he told Blake Alderman of Swamp247. “It was good taking in everything and seeing everything and being around campus and players and recruits a little bit longer. Really everything was a highlight. Going out with the players was fun, riding scooters around campus. They said it was the first time doing the scooters. We had a blast just racing each other and other stuff. The pictures were different. I don’t know if you guys heard, but the pictures coming out were a little different this year. Just hanging out was real cool.”
The 6-foot-2-inch, 180-pound receiver still has plans for official visits with the Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs and Tennessee Volunteers set for this month, along with a return visit to Gainesville in late July for the team cookout. He intends to make his decision sometime after that: “I was thinking July or maybe into August. Maybe like the first day of school or something. Before the season either way.”
Mizell is ranked No. 115 overall and No. 20 nationally at his position, according to the 247Sports Composite, while the On3 Consensus lists him at Nos. 103 and 17, respectively. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has the Gators out front for his services with an 84.8% chance of landing him, with the Georgia Bulldogs up next at 5.1%.
