Florida recently hosted sophomore safety [autotag]Hylton Stubbs[/autotag] for one of the team’s Junior Days in January, and the Mandarin High product has his eyes set on a return visit for the spring, according to Gators Online.
The quick turnaround isn’t surprising given Stubbs’ proximity to Gainesville. Orange Park is maybe an hour and a half from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, and Stubbs considers it a plus that UF is near home. Stubbs hasn’t locked in a date just yet, but he’s looking to plan something in March or April around his 7-on-7 schedule.
He recently named Florida State, Michigan, Oklahoma and Tennessee as his top four programs, but there’s plenty of time for Florida to rejoin the top of the pack with two years left in his recruitment. Getting him back on campus should help Florida’s chances.
“Those are my favorites right now, but I still have a long way to go,” Stubbs said. “I have to make sure I make the right choice because you can only go to one school.”
On3 lists Stubbs as a four-star recruit, but he has yet to receive a star rating from 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals. The On3 recruiting prediction machine now favors Florida over Tennessee at 45.3% odds. The Volunteers have a 20.8% chance to land him and Virginia Tech is a close third at 17.8%, according to the RPM.
