Florida lands second 4-star DL commitment of the weekend

What’s better than one commitment from a four-star defensive lineman for Florida? How about a pair of four-star defensive line commits for the Gators?

The news of [autotag]Nasir Johnson[/autotag]’s commitment to the University of Florida came in as fans were processing a verbal pledge from another four-star defensive lineman, Amaris Williams.

Johnson, who plays high school ball in Dublin, Georgia, pledged his services to the Gators within an hour of Williams’ announcement, and he wouldn’t be the last either. The third of four commitments on the day, Florida’s recruiting staff was clearly firing on all cylinders.

It’s worth noting that Johnson played on the offensive line in high school and could see some time on the other side of the trenches while at Florida as well. His 6-foot-4-inch, 300-pound frame is suitable for either spot, but he’s still learning to get a good jump on the snap. Violent tackles are his signature.

Florida State, Georgia, Louisiana State and South Carolina were among the other teams that offered him before his commitment to Florida.

Johnson is a four-star recruit, according to every major service besides ESPN which has yet to grade him. 247Sports is highest on him at No. 191 overall and No. 25 among defensive linemen in the class of 2024, but the On3 industry ranking, which uses a weighted average of all four major services, has him at No. 245 nationally and No. 26 among those at his position.
