Florida inches up NET rankings after Mississippi State win on Wednesday

The Gators gained some more ground in the NET rankings after their second-straight SEC win.

Florida basketball earned its second-straight victory in Southeastern Conference competition on Wednesday night with a 79-70 win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs inside the O’Connell Center.

As a result of the Quadrant 2 win, the Orange and Blue rose three spots to No. 43 overall in the NET rankings, putting them between No. 42 Mississippi State and the No. 44 Texas Longhorns.

Here’s how the quadrant system breaks things up:

  • Quadrant 1: Home 1-30, Neutral 1-50, Away 1-75
  • Quadrant 2: Home 31-75, Neutral 51-100, Away 76-135
  • Quadrant 3: Home 76-160, Neutral 101-200, Away 135-240
  • Quadrant 4: Home 161-353, Neutral 201-353, Away 241-353

The Gators are now 0-5 against Quadrant 1 opponents, 5-1 against Quadrant 2 opponents, 3-0 against Quadrant 3 opponents and 5-0 against Quadrant 4 opponents. They hold a 13-6 record overall and a 3-3 mark in Southeastern Conference play.

Former Florida head coach Mike White and the Georgia Bulldogs will be in Gainesville on Saturday, Jan. 27, to face off with the Gators inside the O’Connell Center. The game is scheduled for an early noon ET start and will be broadcast on ESPN2.
