Florida hosts No. 7 Kentucky in regular-season finale

Florida is looking to upset another top-10 team on Saturday in the regular-season finale. Will the fans rush the court if it happens?

The Florida Gators will host the No. 7 Kentucky Wildcats for the final game of the 2022 regular season on Saturday.

It will be the last game in Gainesville for several Gators as seven seniors are set to say their goodbyes to Gator Nation. Tyree Appleby, Colin Castleton, Anthony Duruji, Myreon Jones, Phlandrous Fleming Jr., Brandon Mckissic and Keyontae Johnson are all set to move one from the team after this season.

The pregame tributes are sure to invoke some emotion from the players and fans, but then it will be time to go up against one of the strongest teams in the country. The Wildcats trounced the Gators on February 12 in Lexington, 78-57. Kentucky’s Oscar Tshiebwe put up 27 points and 19 rebounds to overshadow a strong night from Castleton.

That game got a little chippy when McKissic collided with and injured UK’s TyTy Washington Jr. Rupp Arena was a madhouse after that and it got to Florida. The good news is the Gators have the Rowdies on their side this time, and it’s sure to be an emotional afternoon in O’Dome.

A win over Kentucky gives Florida a shot at making the NCAA Tournament. It won’t be easy, but winning would be a fantastic way to send the seniors out in their final home game.
