Florida hoops in CBS Sports’ First Four Out ahead of Kentucky rematch

After surviving double overtime against Georgia, Florida is on the bubble of Jerry Palm’s latest bracketology projection for CBS Sports.

Todd Golden made it clear that Florida’s goal would be to reach the NCAA Tournament in Year 2 under him, but the Gators are still on the bubble with 12 games remaining in the regular season.

In the latest bracketology update from Jerry Palm of CBS Sports, the Gators are in the First Four Out along with Butler, Oregon and Seton Hall. Michigan State, Nevada, Texas and Virginia Tech make up the Last Four In.

While none of those teams are on Florida’s schedule, the Gators to play a competitive February loaded with SEC teams expected to make the tournament. The rematch against Kentucky on Wednesday is the first of four games left on the schedule against teams inside Palm’s bracket.

The Wildcats are the projected 3-seed in the Midwest, Alabama (Feb. 21 and Mar. 5) is the 4-seed in the East and Auburn (Feb. 10) and South Carolina (Mar. 2) are the 5 and 8-seeds, respectively, in the West.
